Here are some more pictures from Annie's party last weekend. Again, cannot say how awesome it was during the rainiest (sp?) June on record to have had a beautiful, sunny day on the beach with so many friends and family!
Karen had been planning this party and stressing over the details for months. Months. I tried to help as much as I could, but since she is pretty much the best cook ever, food falls primarily into her domain. After going back and forth over the menu many times, we landed on Steak and Chicken kabobs, corn salad, potato salad with a vinaigrette dressing (since it'd be warm out), cake, and watermelon. As you can see from the pics above, the kabobs were awesome (and if you're wondering how the cake was, just watch the video below). They were also relatively easy to assemble and bring to a picnic to grill up. I would say that is was also relatively painless, but that would be a lie. Why? Because the skewers we bought were so stinking sharp that I have puncture marks all over my fingers (don't worry, they never drew blood and none of my tears landed on the food!). All you could hear the entire time Karen and I were putting them together were "Ouch!" "dang" and maybe a couple of other words not suitable for print...
We want to thank everyone who came and who has sent cards, gifts and birthday wishes for Annie! Also, we'll be out in the Detroit-rock city area in the next few weeks, so look us up!
